DAWN SILVA

BilalAs matriarch to the monumental P-funk movement that rocked and rolled right over stadiums worldwide throughout the 1970's, Dawn Silva served an integral role two of the genres most definitive bands. She received her first break as co-lead and background singer for Sly and the Family Stone, before going forces with George Clinton during a Funkadelic-Parliament U.S. tour, a showcase that included the legendary talents of Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley, and Maceo Parker. Following the completion of a seven-year run the P-Funk organization, Clinton formed the Silva-led female side act, the Brides of Funkenstein, which received instant international success. Silva continued her sultry funk legacy through the eighties and nineties, lending her acclaimed vocal talents to the Gap Band, the Eurythmics and, more recently, hip hop artists Coolie and Ice Cube, before returning to center stage as a solo artist with her 2000 release, All My Funky Friends. Now, the original Bride of Funkenstein and Empires to the P-Funk throne prepares to fans on another journey through her deep, dank kingdom of rock, rhythm and blues.
